The house-museum was founded on the base of the founder of Georgian realistic sculpture and one of cofounders of Georgian art school Iakob Nikoladze. The house was built in 1922 by architecture of Khalgin. He was learning skills of sculptor in Moscow's central art school of Stroganov and the high school of art in Paris. For some amount of time he was working in the art salon of French sculptor Rodin.
